DR. MATTHEW WOOD, ACCOMPANIST

Noted for his “electrifying performance” (Andre Harrell II, Voyager), Dr. Matthew Wood (Matt) holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in piano performance from Louisiana State University. He is currently finishing a second doctoral degree at LSU, a Ph.D. in musicology. Matt has performed internationally in South Africa, Costa Rica, and three times in Serbia at the World Piano Conference. Throughout the United States, he has performed solo recitals, chamber music, and piano concerti with orchestras. He has taught college music courses at LSU and the University of West Florida, and from 2013-2020 he taught full-time at New Orleans Center for Creative Arts, Louisiana’s state conservatory for high school students, as choir director, opera conductor, accompanist, and instructor of music theory, aural skills, class piano, and music history. He is a council member for the American Musicological Society, and also works professionally as an organist and harpsichordist. He also currently serves as Director of Music at St. Clement’s Episcopal Church in Berkeley.
