Brett Strader

Brett Strader, Collaborative Pianist for Diablo Choral Artists, is Resident Music Director at Lamplighters Music Theatre and a prominent figure in Bay Area musical theatre for more than twenty years. His recent productions include H.M.S. PinaforeThe Last Five Years (winner of the 2024 Bay Area BroadwayWorld Award for Best Musical Direction), and Bright Star (current NorBay Award nominee).

As a composer, his works include It Can Happen (Oxford, UK, 2022), Remember (San Antonio Symphony, 2020), and Passion: A New Oratorio (2019), with performances by ensembles ranging from the San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus to the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square. He has conducted internationally, including with the Sydney Lyric Orchestra and Santa Barbara Symphony.

Brett also directs the Sing For America Community Chorus, teaches at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music Pre-College Academy, and performs with the Tango Nuevo quintet Montango. He lives in Pleasant Hill with his wife, harpist Krista Strader.
